Farmer facing wounding charge
Forty-seven-year-old farmer Fitzroy Scott, of New Gardens district, Mount James, St Andrew, has been charged with wounding with intent following an incident in his community on December 5.
Reports from the Constant Spring police are that at 7 p.m., a man was walking along the New Gardens main road when he noticed Scott, who was reportedly walking with his hand behind his back. Scott, who was walking in the opposite direction, drew closer to the man and reportedly drew a machete and inflicted chop wounds on the man's body. The man managed to escape and alerted the police. Upon the arrival of the lawmen, the injured man was assisted to the hospital, where he was admitted and treated for his injuries.
Scott was subsequently arrested and charged based on a statement collected that implicates him and a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney. His court date is being finalised.
