Man charged with killing brother on New Year's Day

A New Year's Day family dispute turned deadly in Pamphret when a brotherly altercation ended with one man stabbed to death and the other now facing a murder charge.

Thirty five year old Mark Phang, otherwise called "Squeaky", of Pamphret, St Thomas, has been charged with murder following the stabbing death of his brother at their home on Thursday, January 1.

The deceased has been identified as 46 year old Marvin Phang, otherwise called "Terry", a mechanic of Pamphret, St Thomas.

Reports from the Yallahs police are that about 7:45 p.m., Mark and Marvin got into a physical altercation during which both men were stabbed.

The police were alerted and both brothers were taken to hospital, where Marvin was pronounced dead. Mark was treated for his injuries and admitted in stable condition.

Following investigations, Mark was subsequently charged based on witness statements.

His court date is being finalised.
